MESSAGE FROM THE DEPARTMENT HEAD

Welcome to the department of Architecture, Sonargaon University [SU]. A profound demand of professional skill ness in the field of urban development and upcoming challenge of sustainable issues in future world, dept. of Architecture, SU wants to produce a new generation of architects prepared to meet the emerging local, regional and global trails.

Since January, 2014, SU is conducting the Bachelor of Architecture degree (B. Arch.) for the students from home and abroad. Passing seven years the Department of Architecture, Sonargaon University is gaining its own momentum and reputation as a forward-thinking design school in Bangladesh. We inspire intellectual analysis as the basis for design investigation and pursue design excellence without dictating a specific design aesthetic or ideology. We endeavor to generate inclusive learning opportunities   and objectives.

The five-year undergraduate program of architecture Discipline includes multidimensional design studios starting from focusing on basic design composition to complex emerging urban and rural built environmental issues. The formal teaching learning process is enriched through parallel academic events and learning activities outside the routine such as exhibition on studio projects, study tour and exchange of academic project discussion with teams. The departmental seminar series ‘Forum’ is a learning platform of the department where presentation and discussion on both scholarly research work by the in house faculty and distinguished speakers from other universities takes place including the outstanding professional works by leading architects and students’ extracurricular work. Several workshop such as workshop on architectural hand sketch, Model making etc. are being arranged to improve the skills of the students. Workshops on teaching and assessment strategy also takes place to facilitate the teachers as well for their academic development. 

Within this very short span of time the department of architecture, Sonargaon University has shown its caliber through the achievement of its students and graduates. Several students have won national and international awards for their excellent academic works and extra-curricular activities. Most of our graduates are serving in the reputed well-known pvt. and govt. organizations. A very strong alumni network has already been established which will help the fresh graduates in their journey of career development. Owing to the demand of our graduates both in the professional and academic areas, it is not very far when our graduates would play important role to introduce Bangladesh to the rest of the world with its own architectural identity.
